The Certificate IV in Materiel Logistics graduates IPS Practitioners with the foundational knowledge and skills to operate within Product Support environments. Delivered over 28 days in a blended environment, the course can be completed in 12–24 months. To support the award of the qualification, a workplace supervisor is required to sign off on 600 hours of workplace experience.

Pre-requisites
- No academic pre-requisites — students learn the foundations of product support
- A Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLN&D) skills assessment is required

Module 1 — Introduction to IPS · 96 hours

- Establish the requirements, parameters, and monitoring metrics of contracts

Module 3 — Technical Framework and Analysis · 96 hours

- Apply policies and procedures for the development of Life Cycle Supportability Plans (LCSP)

Module 4 — Implement LCSP · 80 hours

Common questions about the Certificate IV.
Who is this qualification for?
The Certificate IV is aimed at those with minimal experience or no formal background in IPS or Capability Management within the Defence context. It graduates IPS Practitioners — the "doers" within IPS working teams.
Can I enter at Module 1, Week 2 if I've already done IPS Awareness?
Yes. Successful completion of the IPS Awareness course knowledge assessments for TLIX0049 and TLIX0060 provides direct entry to Module 1, Week 2 of the accredited course.
What workplace hours do I need?
600 hours of workplace experience signed off by a workplace supervisor. The workplace supervision is for hours only — all assessments are conducted as part of the course.
Can the Cert IV count towards the Diploma?
Yes. Units completed within the Certificate IV can be credited towards the Diploma of Materiel Logistics so you don't have to repeat content.
